Mr. Arnold Parker, while living at home in Anna, IL., departed this earth at 4:07 a.m. June 14, the 2013 after living 102 years. Arnold is the oldest of 8 children born to Arna Parker and Emma Dunn. Arnold was born in New Madrid, MO., on March 7th 1911. Arnold's family were: Deceased brothers: William Jewell Parker, Gillman Francis (Buster) Parker. His deceased sisters are Ruby (Ruba) Armeda Parker Stevens, Irene Anas Parker Lingle, Trulla Evelyn (Dolly) Parker Plott, Velma Ruth Parker Menees and one living sister Mary Emma Moneada Parker Karraker residing in Anna, IL. Arnold moved to Illinois at 6 months of age and lived on fruit farm south of Anna. After working on the family fruit farm, he helped support the family and was a produce truck driver, delivering the fruit to the larger metropolitan cities. In 1920 he went to work at Alton State Hospital and continued working there until 1934. In 1941 Arnold started to work for the State of Illinois, residing in Henry, IL. Arnold worked for the state until he retired in 1971. He did not feel like hanging it up and being in good health, Arnold was encouraged after working on the Henry Police force where he served as a policeman until 1981. Becoming known in the community for his fair dealing as a policeman, he was encouraged to run for Mayor. Arnold was elected Mayor of Henry, in 1982 and served four years before retiring. In 1992, Arnold and Helen sold their home in Henry and moved to Anna, IL to be near family. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anna and the Henry Masonic Lodge #119. Arnold was married to Jane Gunnison of Alton, IL on 7/12/1932. From this marriage came Arnolds only daughter, Martha Sue who with her husband Ron, reside at Mason, Ohio. Arnold married again Helen C. Waggle 6/23/1962 of Anna, IL. After moving to Anna, Arnold lost his wife, Helen, to cancer 2/18/2001. Arnold's daughter, Martha Sue married Ronald Macy of Lynn, Indiana and they have given Arnold five grandchildren. They are Tim and wife (Jennifer) Macy of Kings Mill, OH, Sarah Bowser and husband (Mark) of West Chester, OH, Jim and wife (Amy) Macy of Brecksville, OH, Julie and Curt Walters of Fishers, IN and Terry Lewis of Batavia, OH. Arnold's thirteen great grandchildren are: Corina, Nate, Mitchell, Morgan, Sydney and Megan Macy, Andrew, Hannah and Rebecca Bowser, Macy, Matt, Maggie and Meredith Walters and brother in law, Walter Menees of Anna. Funeral services for Mr. Arnold Parker will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Les Sinks officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Masonic Services held at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to T.I.P. Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
