Anita R. (Mayberry) Harris

Anita R. Harris, age 89 of Jonesboro, passed away, Sunday October 26, 2025 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. She was born August 4, 1936 in Anna, the daughter of Charles M. and Clola Mae (Brown) Mayberry. She married Richard "Don" Harris on July 31, 1954 in Jonesboro. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2025.

Anita is survived by her children, LaDona (Mike) Blue of East Alton, IL, Alan Harris of Central City, KY and Brian (Sherry) Harris of Gainesville, GA; grandchildren, Jessica (Tim) Carter, Brandon (Trina) Blue, Ryan (Shontae) Harris, Tyler (Kayla) Harris, Brianna (Matt) Bedzyk, Danielle (Jay) Cosgrove and Derek Harris; 21 great-grandchildren and one on the way; Sister, Bessie Galiher of Granite City; numerous nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Harris; brothers, Carl, Charles Jr., Bill and Harold Mayberry; and sister, Martha Mayberry.

Anita was a faithful member of the Trinity Pentecostal Tabernacle in Jonesboro for many years. She devoted her life to serving her God and others. She played the organ at church, and her beautiful voice could be heard singing every Sunday. Anita loved to cook, each year she cooked at the Elco church camp during the summer. Christmas was her favorite time of the year, she always made it a special time for her family with wonderful food and lots of love.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Trinity Pentecostal Tabernacle in Jonesboro. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the Trinity Pentecostal Tabernacle in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions are preferred to the Trinity Pentecostal Tabernacle. Envelopes will be available at the church and the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home.
