Dr. Amos Rehberger, age 89 of Brownsville, TX, formerly of Anna, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 in the Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, TX. He was born April 18, 1925 in Mascoutah, IL, the son of Ralph and Mathilda Caroline Haas Rehberger. He married Beverly Bequeret on June 12, 2000 in Paducah, KY. Amos is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Rehberger of Brownsville, TX; children, Robert L. Rehberger of Stockbridge, GA, Dr. Linda (Charles) Summercorn of Green Oak, IL, Jeffery (Tisha) Rehberger of Highland, IL; Beverly's children, Rebecca Witt of Brownsville, TX, Herbert L. Garris of Mesa, AZ, Kathleen (Richard) Morales of Marion, IL; sixteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; one sister, Cornelia Rehberger of Highland, IL; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Greg Rehberger; two brothers, Paul and Omar Rehberger and one sister, Mildred. Amos was of the Catholic Faith. He was a graduate of St. Louis University and for over fifty years held a successful dental practice. Amos was a proud Veteran; he served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII in the South Pacific. Amos was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #2035 in Brownsville, Texas. He was an avid hunter, and farmer. He loved horses and enjoyed racing sulky carts. Funeral services for Dr. Amos Rehberger will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. Paul Sadler officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. and until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
