Rev. Albert Moore

Rev. Albert Moore, age 92 of Cobden, died at 5:45 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2011 at Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born December 2, 1918 in Cobden, the son of James Calvin and Elsie Messmore Moore. He married Lorraine Green on June 4, 1946 in Fort Worth, Texas. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2008.Albert is survived by one son, Jim Moore of Cobden; five grandchildren, Jennifer, James, Jessica, Ian and Ashley; three great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine; one brother, Roy Moore; and one sister, Margaret Moore.Albert was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sun City, Arizona. He graduated from Southern Illinois University of Carbondale and continued his study at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He was licensed by Immanuel Baptist Church in Cobden on January 6, 1937 and was ordained on June 18, 1939. In 1947 Albert moved to the First Baptist Church in Brookport, Illinois, then to Mounds and Churches in Zigler, Illinois. For 23 years Albert ministered at a Mission Church in Whiting, Indiana. He retired April 15, 1984 and moved back to Cobden. During his career he served as interim pastor at many churches throughout Southern Illinois. For many years Albert served on the board of the Southern Baptist Convention Committee, holding several different positions. In 1995 he moved to Baptist Village Retirement center in Youngstown, Arizona. Funeral services for Rev. Albert Moore will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 7, 2011 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden with Rev. Joe Aldridge officiating. Interment will be in the Cobden Cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. and until the funeral hour on Monday, February 7, 2011 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.
