Mrs. Addie Mae Scott, age 71 of Cobden, died at 8:40 pm, Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at her home in Cobden. She was born on June 28, 1942 outside of Cleveland, Tennessee, the daughter of Jesse Dewey Lyle Sr. and Leaola (Haggard) Brokaw. In 1945 Addie's father Jesse was killed in a tragic tractor accident. In 1946 Leaola then married Donald Brokaw of Glen Elder, Kansas. Addie married Gerald Leroy Scott on August 7, 1960 at the Glenview Friends Church in Glenelder, Kansas. Addie is survived by her loving husband Gerald Scott of Cobden; three sons, Jeffrey (Rayetta) Scott of Alto Pass, Donald Scott of Anna and Kirk (Twyla) Warman of Iberia, MO; ten granddaughters; thirteen great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Gerald Scott; two brothers; one sister; and step-father, Donald Clark Brokaw. In August of 1969 Addie went to work for the Social Security Administration. Over the years she worked her way up the ranks from a Grade 2 File Clerk to a Grade 12 Program Analyst. She worked at numerous offices until her retirement after thirty one years of service. After retirement Addie enjoyed spending time with Scotty, their sons and loved crafting with her granddaughters. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary in McClure and the AARP in Mounds. Funeral services for Mrs. Addie Mae Scott will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Cobden with the Pastor Ed Falgout officiating. Interment will be in the Cobden Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, October 4, 2013 from 5 until 8:00 pm at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.
